CHAPTER THIRTEEN
GRAND ORCHESTRATION
MY DAUGHTER’S PRAYER TIME REVEAL
As Kendyl and I started talking, I told her I was doing fine. I was sore, but not in much discomfort—as yet. That was all I shared with her. With much energy in her voice, she began telling me how she prayed and was in deep prayer without distractions. She went on to explain that she had had a vision. She was glad to hear my voice and excited to share with me, so I listened. Then I listened more intently as she shared with me without hesitation that she was one hundred percent confident I was going to be all right. She said she just knew, because it had been revealed by the Holy Spirit who surrounded her with the vision. This is her testimony.
Kendyl’s Testimony and Holy Spirit Moment ~ Four
To say this past year has brought the greatest spiritual test of my life would be an understatement. When I received the news my mother had stage III A melanoma after her SLN biopsy, it rang through me like a shock wave. For the first time in my life, I was brought to my knees. In disbelief but in prayer, with the Lord I’ve served since I was nine years old right there with me. His presence I felt, reminiscent of the time I had emergency C-section with my first daughter. My life and my unborn baby’s life were hanging in the balance. I was afraid, but I had been in prayer with my Jesus and felt He was near. My Savior, my mother, and one fantastic nurse are the reasons why both my daughter and I are fine. I felt His presence through the chaos then, just like I did when I got the “news” and was brought to my knees. I feel His presence in my prayers.
After the positive news for her SLN biopsy and as I was on my knees, I wept uncontrollably for this beautiful woman I hold so dear to my heart. I was not sad for myself, but was experiencing deeper sorrow for her and my father as they would have to tackle this. The world has shown us how horrible cancer can be. Our entire family witnessed its death grip with the loss of my beloved grandfather, Bapa, who passed in 2010. My greatest wish while on this earth is not for money, cars, or big fancy houses, but for no other family member to have to suffer through the battle with a deadly cancer. I knew how serious melanoma could be: we had family discussions about it, as my mother made sure my sister and I saw our dermatologist right after her initial diagnosis. And here I was on my knees, facing my biggest fear head on. As I prayed and cried out to Him, I heard my Lord say, “Be calm, I am here. She will be well.” In that moment my cries subsided, my breathing slowed, and a wave of peace came across my body.
